Patient information and treatment terms – Joan Montserrat.
Last updated: October 2026
These terms apply to treatments provided by Joan Montserrat, Doctor in Chiroproactic and Heilpraktiker (main clinic for treatments: Berlin Movement Lab, Milastraße 4, 10437 Berlin), both at the practice in Berlin and on site at a location you choose. Submitting an intake form is a request only and does not create a treatment contract. The treatment contract (§ 630a German Civil Code, BGB) is concluded when we confirm an appointment. Our seminars and training courses are subject to separate terms provided at registration.
Our work is based on neural manipulation therapy, and is carried out within the scope of the Heilpraktikergesetz. We treat you according to the state of knowledge and with due professional care, but we cannot promise or guarantee a particular result or cure. Treatment does not replace medical diagnosis or care by a physician where this is needed; we may recommend that you consult a doctor or have further tests done.
Neural Manipulation treatments carried out by a qualified practitioner is generally considered a safe therapy option. Serious complications are very rare, but cannot be ruled out entirely.
We tailor every treatment to the individual, taking your overall health, therapeutic needs and physical capacity into account. We will explain the nature, risks and alternatives of a proposed treatment to you before it begins, and you may ask questions or refuse any part of it at any time.
Please give us complete and truthful information about your health, current symptoms, diagnoses, medication, pregnancy and previous treatments, and tell us promptly about any change before and during treatment. We cannot assess contraindications or anatomical anomalies that are unknown to us because information was withheld or not disclosed. Please also tell us at once if you feel pain, discomfort or anything unusual during treatment.
For a few hours, and occasionally up to a few days, after treatment you may experience muscle soreness, aches, increased sensitivity, or a feeling of stiffness or instability in the treated area. You may also feel tired, dizzy or nauseous, or have a headache. These reactions usually fade quickly with gentle movement or an ice pack. If symptoms are severe, unusual or persist, please contact us without delay. In an emergency, such as sudden severe pain, chest pain, numbness, paralysis, speech or vision disturbances, call the emergency services on 112.
For treatments at your home, event or another venue, you are responsible for providing a suitable, safe and clean space for treatment. Travel and time costs are agreed with you in advance and shown on the invoice. We may decline or interrupt a treatment if the environment does not allow safe and professional care.
Minors may be treated only with the consent of their legal guardians, who must be informed and give consent in accordance with § 630d and § 630e BGB. Where possible, a guardian should attend the treatment.
Because our schedule is tightly planned, we depend on your punctuality. Please inform us at least 24 hours before the agreed time if you cannot attend, so that the slot can be offered to other patients. Where an appointment is cancelled with shorter notice, or missed without notice, we are entitled to charge a compensation fee of 50 % of the treatment fee for short-notice cancellations and 100 % for no-shows. This is because the reserved time cannot normally be filled again at short notice and no other income arises from it. You are free to show that we suffered no loss or a considerably lower loss, in which case the fee will be reduced accordingly. If you are prevented by sudden illness or other circumstances outside your control, please tell us as soon as possible; we will review such cases individually and may waive the fee.
Treatment fees are charged in accordance with the Gebührenverzeichnis für Heilpraktiker (GeüH) or according to an individual fee agreed with you in advance. If we expect that a third party, such as a private health insurer, will not fully cover the costs, we will inform you of the expected costs in text form before treatment begins (§ 630c (3) BGB). Invoices are payable [immediately after treatment / within 14 days of the invoice date].
Private health insurers reimburse treatment costs according to each patient’s individual policy, so we cannot guarantee full or partial reimbursement. Statutory (public) health insurance generally does not cover the costs of our therapy. Please clarify the terms with your insurer before treatment. You remain responsible for payment regardless of reimbursement.
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, and for injury to life, body or health caused by a breach of duty on our part. In all other cases we are liable in accordance with statutory provisions. Mandatory statutory rights of patients, in particular under §§ 630a et seq. BGB, remain unaffected.
We process your personal data, including health data, in accordance with the GDPR and our Privacy Policy, which also explains your rights. Treatment records are kept for ten years after the end of treatment, as required by § 630f BGB.
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer living outside Germany, the mandatory consumer protection provisions of your country of residence remain unaffected. If a provision of these terms is or becomes invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions is not affected.
